Dé klassieker onder de klasse-wagens: deze in uitmuntende staat verkerende Sovereign betreft een Titanium kleurige parel. De vormgeving is authentiek en straalt één-en-al Britse aristocratie uit. De X300-generatie met de AJ16-motor wordt beschouwd als Jaguar's betrouwbaarste XJ. Door de relatief korte productieperiode begint het model inmiddels schaars te worden, waarmee hij aantrekkelijk is voor verzamelaars. Des te meer dankzij een dergelijk lage kilometerstand en volledige onderhoudshistorie. Werkelijk alles ademt kwaliteit uit en dit is ongetwijfeld één van de best gekoesterde exemplaren op de markt, aldus ook specialist Hartendorp. Deze Jaguar uit 1996 is van Japanse origine en sinds 2016 in Nederland.

Een Jaguar voorzien van een luxueuze uitrusting is geen kunst aan, net zo min als het selecteren van een voyante kleurstelling. Wat daarentegen waarschijnlijk wél uw waardering verdient is de perfecte balans tussen distinctie en originaliteit. Zoals in geval van deze uiterst stijlvolle XJ, aangevuld met fraaie verchroomde accenten, welke kenmerkend zijn voor de Sovereign. De generfd Ivory-lederen comfortstoelen in Nimbus grijs zitten als gegoten, passend aangevuld met wortelnotenhout-fineer op het dashboard. De bovenzijde van het dashboard, de deurpanelen en het stuurwiel zijn iets donkerder \ dan de rest van het interieur. Achterin is plaats voor drie passagiers. De dakhemel is onlangs vernieuwd.

Onderhuids is het minstens zo’n schoonheid: de 4.0 liter 6-in-lijn levert 241pk en 375Nm koppel op de achterwielen en is gekoppeld aan een automatische 4-bak van ZF. Hard werken is allerminst van toepassing; de elektrisch verstelbare fauteuils met verwarming én memory bieden veel steun, de cabine is ruim en deze 'Jag' is uitermate geschikt voor lange afstanden. De airconditioning functioneert goed en zorgt voor een frisse bries, terwijl de analoge klokken en -knoppen nostalgische gevoelens doen opborrelen. Op veiligheidsvlak was dit model sterk verbeterd, met zaken als ABS, Traction Control en airbags. De ophanging is verbeterd ten gunste van het rij-comfort en de carrosserie is beter met minder roestgevoeligheid.

Het afgestempelde onderhoudsboekje, talloze facturen, de gereedschapskit \, het volwaardige reservewiel, een recent taxatierapport \<€ 18.000, klasse 2\> en twee sleutels \ zijn aanwezig. In Nederland heeft de auto drie eigenaren gehad, waarvan de laatste sinds september 2023. De auto stond altijd binnen gestald, werd 's winters geschorst en hij kreeg tijdig alle benodigde service bij Jaguar-specialisten. De laatste beurt is eind 2023 uitgevoerd bij 93.811km. Daarmee heeft deze Jaguar de 'tand des tijds' uitermate goed doorstaan met behoud van originaliteit: enkel de achterklep en bestuurdersdeur zijn om cosmetische redenen opnieuw gespoten. De originele 17" XJR-velgen zijn later gemonteerd en voorzien van vrijwel nieuwe Vredestein-zomerbanden.

Voor zover wij het kunnen beoordelen functioneert alles naar behoren, rijdt de Jaguar fantastisch en zijn er geen mankementen of opmerkingen aangaande de conditie. Er zijn geen krassen, deuken en/of stoeprandschade en de hoeveelheid steenslag is nihil. De motor start en loopt zuiver, zonder storingen en/of lekkages. De APK geldt tot 10 oktober 2025, maar wordt vernieuwd bij de levering. Foto's van de onderhoudshistorie worden later toegevoegd. Een aankoopkeuring is altijd mogelijk.

Equipping a Jaguar with luxurious appointments is no small feat, nor is selecting a striking color scheme. What is probably more worthy of your appreciation, however, is the perfect balance between distinction and originality. As in the case of this exceptionally stylish XJ, complemented by the beautiful chrome accents that are characteristic of the Sovereign. The grained Ivory leather comfort seats in Nimbus Grey are a perfect fit, complemented by burr walnut veneer on the dashboard. The upper dashboard, door panels, and steering wheel are slightly darker \ than the rest of the interior. There's room for three passengers in the rear. The headliner has recently been updated.

Under the skin, it's just as beautiful: the 4.0-liter inline-6 engine delivers 241 hp and 375 Nm of torque to the rear wheels and is mated to a ZF 4-speed automatic transmission. Hard work is certainly not the issue; the electrically adjustable seats with heating and memory offer plenty of support, the cabin is spacious, and this 'Jag' is perfectly suited for long distances. The air conditioning works well and provides a fresh breeze, while the analog clocks and dials evoke nostalgic feelings. Safety-wise, this model has been significantly improved, with features like ABS, Traction Control, and airbags. The suspension has been improved for enhanced ride comfort, and the bodywork is better, with less susceptibility to rust.

The stamped maintenance booklet, numerous invoices, the complete tool kit, the full-size spare tire, a recent appraisal report (€18,000, class 2), and two keys (with two immobilizers for the alarm) are present. In the Netherlands, the car has had three owners, the last of whom has owned it since September 2023. The car was always stored indoors, was suspended during the winter, and received all necessary service promptly from Jaguar specialists. The last service was performed at the end of 2023 at 93,811 km. This Jaguar has thus stood the test of time exceptionally well, while retaining its originality: only the tailgate and driver's door have been repainted for cosmetic reasons. The original 17" XJR wheels were later fitted with virtually new Vredestein summer tires.

As far as we can tell, everything functions properly, the Jaguar drives fantastically, and there are no defects or comments regarding its condition. There are no scratches, dents, or curb rash, and there are minimal stone chips. The engine starts and runs smoothly, without any malfunctions or leaks. The periodic vehicle inspection (APK) is valid until October 10, 2025, but will be renewed upon delivery. Photos of the maintenance history will be added later. A pre-purchase inspection is always possible.
